I have this thing for old laptops or electronics for that matter. I can’t explain it but it is kinda like the feeling you get when you inherit an old and worn hand-me-down textbook. It is the fact that it has been used that gives it a certain charm. Every scratches on its surface, every dent, every little imperfection tells a story of its existence and its relationship with a person. I love it…absolutely! It is this feeling that keeps in check the other one that compels me to chase after the latest and greatest gadgets. The latest and greatest may have the fastest and biggest components but they lack the charm, the human-ness of a worn and an old piece of technology that has seen you through countless adventures.
That’s why they are random…Sometimes, I just pick up a pen and paper and draw. No inspiration, no reason, no theme…I draw because it felt like a good thing to do at the moment. And I get that moment quite often.
It is also a way for me to think. I kinda think better when I doodle. Some people may find it offensive that I doodle during a meeting or when they are talking but it is simply how my brain is wired to process information. I am a graphical person and I believe I actually think graphically.
